Internet has become a huge part of the lives of millions of people. You can find all the information you need on the Web. With just a click, you can get access to different resources such as: banking, chatting, finding jobs, booking air and train tickets, making reservations and a lot more. In addition, it offers all kinds of entertainment like movies, music and games among others.

But what exactly is the Internet and how does it work? The Internet is a medium wherein we can view information from any part of the globe. Available through this are documents from the World Wide Web and several other services like instant chat, email and social media. More often than not, most people assume that the Internet and W3 are similar. However, this is not entirely true.

The Internet is made up of a network of cables which enables users to access different kinds of information. Data transmission is done through the Internet Protocol (IP) which provides every computer with a unique identity through its IP address.

Before the Internet became a commonly known word in 1996, using it was very expensive. Most of the time, the users had to go to public centers to utilize its service; however they had to pay a high price per hour. As it developed and became more popular, its speed increased while its cost decreased. Seeing its potential in the business, many service providers joined the market. This in turn made it a more competitive market, which was advantageous for the users since the cost of the Internet became more affordable than before. Now, almost everyone can afford to connect to the Internet and with unlimited access too. Because computer development occurred in America, English became the main language used in the medium. However, to make it more convenient to a wider range of nationalities, other languages like French, German, Japanese, Chinese and Arabic were used as well.

Many people benefit from the Internet. It gives way to numerous opportunities to the average human. For example, if you are a single mother of 3 children, it’s now possible for you to get a job through the Internet, without having to go beyond the comforts of your home. See how convenient it is? You don’t have to spend a dime on transportation, and it spares you from all the walking. You can even get a degree through online education. Now, almost everyone, from children to the elderly, uses the Internet whenever and wherever possible.

As technology continues to push forward, it has made activities far easier than before. Even today, the Internet still continues to be used by the governmental institutions that first developed its technology. So it isn’t surprising that it developed rapidly after it became publicly-accessible in 1996, all the way to today.

Undoubtedly, the Internet is a great advancement for many people. Whether it’s about keeping oneself entertained through music, movies and games, or dealing with more serious stuff like banking and job-hunting, the Internet has been everyone’s solution.
